Union says democracy ‘worth protecting’
The Public Service Association (PSA) has urged the State Government to up its funding of the NSW Electoral Commission.
The Electoral Commissioner, Rachel McCallum, has asked the State Government to upgrade the agency’s information technology infrastructure to boost its defences against system failure and to boost protections against attacks, particularly those using artificial intelligence.
The PSA represents staff at the NSW Electoral Commission.
PSA General Secretary Stewart Little said the agency plays a vital role in protecting democracy in the state.
“The Treasury needs to fully fund the NSW Electoral Commission,” he said.
