Bathurst moves put housing on the home straight

Homes NSW to build taking housing affordability in state’s central west.

The Public Service Association of NSW (PSA) welcomes moves by Homes NSW to build more than 40 affordable housing units to across multiple sites in Bathurst.

“The housing crisis is not only leaving people destitute, it is pricing essential workers out of the communities they serve,” said PSA General Secretary Stewart Little. “The state government’s retreat from the construction of public housing is a major contributing factor for the crisis in this state.

“The plans in Bathurst go some way to address this and should be supported by the state government and local authorities.”

The PSA recently released a report into the housing crisis. The report included interviews from public sector workers who were sleeping rough or commuting hours each way thanks to spiraling housing costs.
