ACTU calls for a boost in annual leave

Union body demands more time off for Australian workers.

The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) wants the country’s workers to have more paid annual leave.

ACTU Secretary Sally McManus will lobby the Federal Government for an increase in the amount of paid holiday leave mandated by the national employment standards.

The ACTU wants workers to be entitled to 25 days’ annual leave, with shift workers given 30. The current standards stipulate 20 days.
