Behind schedule: PSA chastises Transport for NSW over slow progress on jobs

Questions remain over numbers.

The Public Service Association (PSA) has demanded to know why a higher number of people are “in mobility” as a result of changes at Transport for NSW (TfNSW).

Last year there was a a push to cut around 950 jobs, yet the PSA says there are “now approximately 1,600 employees in mobility”.

General Secretary Stewart Little said the process, which commenced in August 2025, “is still going on in May 2026”.

In a letter to Transport Secretary Josh Murray, Mr Little asked, “Our members are rightly asking how so many more people have ended up in mobility than the number of jobs Transport had originally set out to cut.”

“TfNSW cannot keep telling employees this is a restructure involving 950 job cuts, while 1,600 people are already in mobility and more are still expected to enter.”
