Maggie has been a School Learning Support Officer at her southwestern Sydney primary school for 14 years.
Before her current role, she had been employed at various other schools and has done some voluntary work in the sector.
“On an average working day, I’m working with the children, helping them improve their learning,” she said.
“Other duties include cleaning and setting up things … all sorts of things.
“I’m helping the Teacher any way I can.” Maggie said she likes her job.
“I like working with the children and working with the people here at the school,” she said.
Without School Learning Support Officers, many children throughout NSW would struggle to keep up with lessons and their peers.
They also help free up Teachers’ time by supporting students.
School Learning Support Officers like Maggie are true Champions of the State.
