“My job involves supporting students’ well-being,” she said.

“I work with individual and small groups of students to support them in developing skills in maintaining mental health and to form positive relationships with peers, staff and families.”

Amy said the job involves someone who can be non-judgmental, empathic and who has a good understanding of the challenges young people face,

“I like my job because I get to meet a variety of amazing young people who show incredible strength through times of adversity,’ she said.

“Without Student Support Officers these young people would struggle in the education system.

“The role provides a space for these students to feel heard and valued, regardless of their academic abilities.”

Amy is yet another Champion of the State making NSW a better place to live for all.
