Premier announces cost-of-living allowance at Annual Conference

One-off payment will fight inflation.

Premier Chris Minns conformed a large portion of the public sector workers in NSW under awards negotiated by the Public Service Association (PSA) of NSW will receive a one-off $1000 payment, plus superannuation, to help deal with the rising cost of living.

“Today I can announce that after negotiations with the union, we will pay the cost of living allowance,” said the Premier in his address to Delegates. This is the fifth year in a row Mr Minns has spoken at the event.

PSA CPSU NSW General Secretary Stewart Little said the bonus results from negotiations by the union representing public sector workers.

“The payment is due to a union that was prepared for anything,” said Mr Little. “We could not have foreseen events leading up to the increase in inflation, but we knew we needed a safeguard in place.”
