POVB sends message across the border.
The Prison Officers Vocational Branch (POVB) has thrown its support behind industrial action waged in South Australia.
Prison Officers and other public sector workers in South Australia have walked off the job, forcing the closure of South Australia’s major courts.
The South Australian Public Service Association’s General Secretary Charlotte Watson told the ABC that Sheriff’s Officersjoined a 24-hour stoppage.
The PSA SA is seeking a 20 per cent pay rise over 18 months.
“Our Officers send a message to our comrades in South Australia: we support you,” said POVB Chair Darren King. “We understand the essential, often dangerous work performed by Officers all over Australia and worldwide.”
