Bad behaviour more likely to result in bans from schools.
The Public Service Association (PSA) has welcomed the State Government’s decision to ban violent and abusive parents from school grounds.
“Our members are often the first people visitors encounter when they come onto school property,” said PSA Assistant General Secretary Troy Wright. “Too often they bear the brunt of violent, abusing behaviour.”
Under the proposed laws, principals will be given the power to ban parents from school grounds if they engage in unreasonable and harmful behaviour. The laws will cover government and non-government schools. Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car (pictured) made the announcement.
The rules will also cover excessive numbers of emails, phone calls or texts to staff.
If banned. Parents will not be permitted with 25 metres of a school.
