UTS vice-chancellor Andrew Parfitt criticised over spreadsheet.
The Saturday Paper revealed this week that University of Technology Sydney ( UTS) vice-chancellor Andrew Parfitt “knew “knew about a secret list of “underperforming” researchers produced by consulting firm KPMG as part of a $100 million cost-cutting drive”. However, Professor Parfitt’s office up until then had denied such a document existed.
“This only reinforces our belief that OSI and change processes at UTS are flawed, lack transparency and over-rely on consultants,’ said PSA CPSU NSW General Secretary Stewart Little.
UTS has seen job cuts announced, then rescinded. The School of Education was slated for closure until November 2025, when the university announced the closure would no longer take place.
The university has been criticised for paying $7 million to consultants KPMG during the cost-cutting process.
