More staff will help LECC.

The Public Service Association of NSW (PSA) said more resources are required for the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) if it is to increase its powers of surveillance.

The union, which represents workers at the LECC, said the agency, like many in the NSW public sector, would operate better with more resources.

The Commission’s Chief Commissioner Peter Johnson, SC, appeared before a parliamentary committee hearing in May 2026 advocating for greater powers to obtain documents from police. The Commission is handling hundreds of cases after in protests earlier this year (pictured).

“If Commissioner Johnson wants the agency to do more, he needs more staff on hand,” said General Secretary Stewart Little.
