PSA pushes for public sector delivery of sexual-assault support

Union wants services to be delivered by professional public sector workers.

The Public Service Association (PSA) calls for a $4.3 million pilot program to be redirected to the public sector.

A multimillion-dollar two-year trial was unveiled by the NSW Government, to deploy specialists across the state to support victim-survivor of sexual assault navigate the justice system. Tenders have been assigned statewide.

A number of these tenders are private organisations, limiting accessibility for victim-survivors.

“These programs need to be assigned to public services directly to guarantee that all victim-survivors can receive the adequate services they deserve” said PSA General Sectary Stewart Little.

The PSA maintains that assigning these initiatives to the public sector will ensure that all victim-survivors can obtain the support they are seeking irrespective of any factors.
