Art attack: PSA members walk off over plans to cut jobs

More than 50 positions are at stake.

Staff from the Art Gallert of NSW had their voices heard loud and clear at The Domain’s Speakers Corner, across the street from the workplace they walked out from over plans to cut 51 roles.

Supported by PSA members from nearby worksites, including other cultural institutions, the members chanted slogans demanding Arts Minister John Graham reverse the decision to cut more than 10 per cent of the gallery’s jobs to cover a budget shortfall.

“Cultural institutions belong to the NSW public,” said PSA Organiser Claudia Bianchi at the rally.

PSA Industrial Manager Julie-Ann Bond said the staff with jobs on the line “provide this gallery with so much”.
