“My job involves cataloguing all the new books, finding new books teachers want for particular resources, and finding ones the children really want and love reading,” she said.

“I also take care of loaning and returning of books.”

A Champion of the State, Sarah Jane also helped get Lismore South Public School’s library system back in action after the devastating floods hit the region several years ago. She has also worked in other schools in the area.

Sarah Jane enjoys “getting children inspired to read and making sure there is a variety of resources available to inspire them”.

She said it is an “amazing” feeling when she sees a child has been inspired to read something they love.

“They get so excited,” she said. “It is just fantastic.”
