More money will mean better services for NSW.
The Public Service Association (PSA) supports the call for a greater allocation of money raised by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to be allocated to NSW.
NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey (pictured) has worked out a new GST-distribution method that would see the state get an estimated $3.2 billion extra next financial year.
“Services for the people of NSW don’t come free,” said General Secretary Stewart Little. “A fairer distribution of GST money would better serve our state.”
The latest GST distribution decision means that in 2026-27, NSW will receive 82 cents in the dollar, the lowest GST revenue share since the tax was introduced. It is 10.4 cents less than the allocation in 2023-24.
