The PSA has praised its members who worked tirelessly to prevent tragedy in the wake of Cyclone Alfred’s rains, flooding and high winds.
“On behalf of the PSA, I want to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all members in the State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service, and Fire and Rescue who were deployed across parts of NSW Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast in preparation for Tropical Cyclone Alfred, as well as our dedicated members across Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Local Land Services and the Reconstruction Authority NSW and those working for the National Parks and Wildlife Service,” said General Secretary Stewart Little.
Mr Little also praised members in other areas who volunteered with the State Emergency Service or Rural Fire Service, or made themselves available to neighbours in distress.
“In times such as these, a professional, well-funded and well-staffed Public Sector, working hand-in-hand with community-minded volunteers can help keep our communities strong,” said Mr Little.
