“This is a national appointment,” said Ms Smits. “The NAIDOC Committee allows me to network with amazing committee and stakeholders from across the country and provides a voice for my mob, to ensure NAIDOC week remains the prominent event in the Aboriginal yearly calendar for generations to come.”
The Committee makes key decisions about National NAIDOC Week events on behalf of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout the country.
Ms Smits is one of seven women on the 10-person committee.
