Report finds wage gap begins at graduation

Public Sector not spared inequality for those entering the workforce.

In grim reading, wage inequality begins straight after graduation.

The Graduate Outcomes Survey, based on 2024 data, shows that female graduates earned 4.6 per cent, or $3000 less, than male graduates in their first job, four to six months after finishing university. This disparity included public sector roles, including nurses and doctors.

“The PSA CPSU NSW this year celebrated 95 years of having a Women’s Council help it fight issues such as the pay gap,” said General Secretary Stewart Little. “The Graduate Outcomes Survey shows we need to continue this fight.”
