Vice-Chancellor promises to improve transparency.
University of Wollongong Vice-Chancellor Professor Max Lu has launched the institution’s Values in Action guide, which promises to improve transparency in the decision-making process.
Quoted in the Illawarra Mercury, Mr Lu, who was recently grilled by a parliamentary committee over the university’s operations, said this edict “should start from the top”.
Assistant General Secretary of the CPSU NSW, Troy Wright, said this is welcome news.
“We have seen job cuts in this campus,” said Mr Wright, whose union represents non-academic staff at the University of Wollongong. “We also believe there was overspending on consultants. More transparency will mean greater clarity over why these decisions have been made.”
