How to cut tax bills and get a new vehicle.
Maxxia is one of the longest serving novated leasing and salary packaging providers across NSW Government and is a strong supporter of the PSA CPSU NSW. Maxxia currently manages close to 10,000 leases for NSW Government employees, which includes PSA staff members and delegates.
Novated leasing is the technical term for salary packaging a car. It’s a three-way agreement between an employee, their employer and a financier or lender. It allows members to pay for a car and its ongoing expenses using a combination of pre-tax and post-tax dollars from their salary. Eligible electric vehicles can even be paid for using 100 per cent pre-tax dollars!
By unlocking their pre-tax salary to pay for many of their car’s expenses, members could pay less tax throughout the year.
With novated leasing, a member can bundle all their car’s running costs in one convenient payment taken from their salary.
One regular payment can cover a car’s finance, fuel, charging, registration, insurance and servicing. The customer can choose a fuel card at no extra cost and manage their lease via the new MyMaxxia app.
According to Maxxia, those leasing a petrol or diesel vehicle, earning $90,000 annually, taking out a five-year novated lease on a mid-size car worth $34,000 and driving 15,000km per year could save about $13,000 over five years.
Thanks to the Federal Government Electric Vehicle Discount, eligible EVs can be paid for using 100 per cent pre-tax dollars. Therefore, a member leasing an electric vehicle, earning $90,000 annually, taking out a five-year novated lease on a Tesla Model 3, and driving 15,000km per year could save approximately $43,000 over five years.
